Designer Story – Where Passion Became Profession
Melting Shiawase was created in 2025, dedicated to handcrafting beautiful candles with the most lovable aromas, presented in a one-of-a-kind vessel. We loved candles so much that we started to make candles ourselves. We dreamt of creating our own perfect candle one day, but it wasn’t nearly as easy as it seemed to be in the beginning. From selecting the wax, the wick and the fragrances to formulating the candle, step by step, we gradually honed our techniques and came up with all kinds of ideas throughout – constantly experimenting with various scent notes, fragrance blends, container shapes, mixing speeds, temperatures, curing times, you name it. Some ideas were incredible; others… not so clever, but guess what, only the best ones get to stay! Passion didn’t make things easier – it makes them worth it. And now, we want to share that passion through every candle we create. We believe in quality over quantity, innovation and attention to detail. We are committed to fostering long-term relationships with fellow candle aficionados, bringing meaningful experiences into every moment, and delivering lasting happiness. The Melting Shiawase Logo
Our logo fuses two Chinese characters, “rong” and “xing”, into an artistic design. The left part is built around “rong”, which means to melt or merge. The right part is composed of “xing”, which means happiness or fortune. Our logo’s concept draws inspiration from the idea of expressing happiness visually. The two-part design also echoes the geometry of our candle jar. “Rong” refers to warmth, and implies gentleness of the curves – the mild waves twist and swirl, each arc carrying a smile and reflecting the gentle rhythm of joy. “Xing” refers to happiness, and reflects strength in the edges – every simple straight line is an infinite collection of points that extends infinitely, resembling the infinite possibilities of lasting happiness. Fusing “rong” and “xing”, the logo captures the core theme of Melting Shiawase, where warmth becomes happiness, and gentleness becomes strength.
The Vessel of Happiness
This beautiful plaster candle jar features ten edges on the side and seven curves on the top. Our design philosophy is to handcraft a jar whose shape embodies happiness and makes it visible. Not only is the contour aesthetically pleasing, but the geometry that cradles happiness within also extends its meaning; edges give form, curves give soul. The ten edges in folded pattern outline structure, clarity, and strength, much like the quiet yet steady contentment; then the seven curves symbolize tenderness, feeling, and grace, where the flow soothes hearts in delight. The edges and curves coexist, form a dreamy combination that complement each other, and blends steadiness with fluidity – a harmony that defines Melting Shiawase.
Behind the Scenes – The Art of Candle Making
Our candles are made with high-quality coconut soy wax blend for a clean burn. Coconut soy wax is known for its smooth texture, excellent cold and hot scent throw, and environmental friendliness. It features additional premium candle characteristics, including creamy consistency, increased fragrance retention, and a long burn time. The artfully crafted candle jar is handmade, with distinct colors reflecting its own mood. Each of the fragrance blends is refined to offer a sophisticated aroma, unfolding unique top, heart and base notes in layers, evolving a pleasant smell that lingers. We use wooden wicks that create a gentle crackling white noise when the candle flickers, soothing your mind with warm ambiance. Every small step in the formulation process matters to us. With the benefit of only handcrafting candles in small batches, we are able to carefully control the critical parameters, particularly the melting temperature, mixing speed, fragrance load, pouring speed and temperature, wick alignment, and curing conditions. Lastly, our packaging is specially designed to safeguard the candle, holding it snug and secure while delighting the eye.
